Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location:

Salem, VA

Number of Beds: 27

Number of Staff: 50 RNs / 25 Medics

Patient Ratios: 4-6:1

Day Shift:

• 1 Charge Nurse
• 5 Registered Nurses (RN)
• 2-3 Medics
• Increase by 4-5 RNs at 11 AM
• Increase by 1-2 RNs at 3 PM

Night Shift:

• 1 Charge Nurse
• 5 Registered Nurses (RN)
• 2-3 Medics

Typical Procedures:

• Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI)
• Sepsis interventions
• Stroke protocol including tPA administration
• Central line placement
• Care for psychiatric patients
• Transfers to other facilities (EMTALA)

Required Skills:

• Completion of 2-3 travel assignments
• 2-3 years of Emergency Room experience

Preferred

Skills:

• Experience in high acuity and fast-paced emergency departments with high patient volume
• Experience with patient ratios of 5:1

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Preferred
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Preferred
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Preferred
• NIH Stroke Scale - Preferred
