This opportunity is full-time during first shift.
In this role, you will:- Supervise the daily operations of the histology department and personnel to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and established procedures.
- Assist the Manager in developing, implementing, revising, interpreting, and enforcing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), company policies and procedures, and service.
- Compile data, prepare reports, and may work on special assigned projects.
- Assist Manager with budgetary requirements for staffing, purchasing supplies, procurement of equipment, financial report preparation, and monitoring and adhering to the departmental budget.
- Assist Manager in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting, training, monitoring, evaluating, and supervising assigned personnel, delegating work activities, and recommending merit increases, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
- Support the Operations Manager with departmental goals and objectives, including developing and inspiring your team of employees.
- Perform a vital part of the patient care process through embedding and preparing slides for routine H & E and special stain procedures.
- Perform and document scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Recognize when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, staining.
- Work in a fast‑paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards.
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Histology Technician or Histotechnologist and/or 2 years’ experience as a Histology Supervisor.
- Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Exceptional communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, under time constraints.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms.

This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will be trained on reasonable safeguards and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, as well as abide by all applicable privacy and security standards. Employees are expected only to access PHI when it is required to fulfill job duties.
