Overview
Salem, VA. Archer Western is currently seeking a Carpenter for the Apperson Dr Bridge Replacement project.
The Carpenter constructs, erects, and installs wooden structures such as bridges, drainage structures, walls, and additional structures, using carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodwork machinery at commercial, industrial, and heavy civil construction sites.

Responsibilities- Measure distance and mark guidelines on the working surface to prepare for placement.
- Prepare, build, and install wooden structures in line with prefabricated units to form bridge, drain structures, walls, and additional structures.
- Assist with installation of awnings and metal decking for concrete slabs where applicable.
- Utilize a carpenter’s belt with hand tools, power tools, and woodmaking machinery.
- 3-5 years verifiable experience preferred.
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffold or ladder.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs; may be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Compliance with all safety policies and procedures; effective communication with co‑workers and supervisors.
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn.
- Good manual dexterity; ability to stand, kneel, bend, or sit for long periods.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
