Responsible for providing safe transportation while operating the YMCA bus on assigned routes.

• Ensures the safety of all people on bus
• Performs documented safety checks before using the bus
• Abides by all federal, state and municipal traffic laws
• Maintains First Aid kit and reports if items are needed
• Communicates effectively with management team
• Attends job-related training and staff development meetings
• Maintains a good relationship between the YMCA, the school and the community
• Accurately estimates travel time and traffic patterns to be punctual
• Helps to maintain the bus in good working condition including reporting problems
• Maintains adequate fuel in the bus and refuels as needed
• Responsible for recording daily mileage, fuel consumption, and attendance
• Responsible for keeping the bus clean and tidy

• Ability to drive for periods up to 8 hours
• Exposure to indoor/outdoor elements
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents; ability to act swiftly in emergency situations
• Ability to observe participant activities to enforce safety regulations and procedures
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
• Minimal exposure to illnesses of school-age children

• Be at 21 years of age or older
• Maintain current commercial driver’s license, with minimal points on driving record
• Has a record of safe driving
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, staff and management
• Must be energetic, motivated, and have good common sense
