Product Engineer – CE Attachments (Design Engineer)

Great Plains Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Kubota, is seeking an experienced Product Engineer for the Construction Equipment (CE) Attachment Product Development team in Salina, KS.

Location:

Salina, KS. On-site position. Works Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Occasional out-of-state travel required.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Design new skid‑steer and excavator attachments and OEM products from concept through production.
  • Manage all aspects of design projects including concept development, prototyping, testing, validation, and design‑for‑manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure correct fabrication, welding, assembly, and functional performance.
  • Present design concepts, features, opportunities and challenges to the Land Pride management team.
  • Utilize analysis software, evaluate field testing and recommend design modifications to optimize product designs.
  • Create detailed drawings, bill of materials, test plans, etc.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to engineering team lead.
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural or Bio Systems Machinery Engineering, or related engineering discipline from a four‑year college or university.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on design engineering experience, preferably in construction equipment, heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, or related industries.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes (fabrication, welding, assembly) and design‑for‑manufacturability.
  • Proficient in CAD (Creo, CATIA, or similar), PLM tools (Windchill), and FEA software; strong skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present technical information clearly to cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting and resolving field and shop issues safely.
  • Willing and able to travel out of state for multiple days during development and testing phases.
