Job Description
A large manufacturing organization is seeking a Maintenance Data Specialist to support a newly created role at their New Century, KS facility. This position will serve as a critical bridge between engineering and maintenance teams, helping to build and standardize maintenance data systems while supporting plant operations.
This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career mechanical engineer or technically inclined professional who wants hands-on exposure to plant operations, reliability engineering, and maintenance systems. The role blends data analysis (~60–70%) with real-world maintenance support (~20%), offering strong long-term growth into reliability engineering or maintenance leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the gatekeeper for the Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS)
- Maintain MMIS procedures and support work order completion and tracking
- Manage the MMIS portion of the Management of Change (MOC) process
- Build and maintain equipment BOMs, create equipment IDs, and standardize plant assets
- Facilitate P& and establish preventive maintenance programs
- Partner with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams on capital and process improvement projects
- Perform SAP data analysis to identify maintenance efficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Maintain inspection reports and process safety documentation (PSM critical docs)
- Assist in incident investigations and troubleshooting activities
- Develop KPI reports for maintenance performance tracking
- Support maintenance inventory reviews and equipment standardization efforts
- Act as backup support for site MRO coordination
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (Chemical or Industrial Engineering with mechanical exposure also considered)
- Strong mechanical aptitude with interest in maintenance and equipment systems
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and take initiative
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills - Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience with SAP or other Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS/MMIS)
- Exposure to maintenance, reliability, or plant operations environments
- Basic knowledge of macro development or data automation
- Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or engineering environments
