PART-TIME FIREFIGHTER II / EMR
Greenwood County Fire Services | Greenwood County, South Carolina
Rate of pay: $21.43/hr.
Greenwood County is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join our Fire Services team as Part-Time Firefighter II / Emergency Medical Responders (EMR).
This position provides an opportunity to serve the citizens of Greenwood County while working alongside a committed team of public safety professionals. Part-time Firefighter II/EMRs respond to fires, medical emergencies, and other emergency situations while helping protect lives and property throughout our community.
What You’ll DoAs a Part-Time Firefighter II/EMR, you will:
- Respond to fires and other emergency incidents with assigned apparatus and equipment.
- Perform fire suppression duties, including laying and connecting hose lines, operating nozzles, and directing water streams.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide care within the Emergency Medical Responder scope of practice.
- Communicate with dispatch, hospital personnel, and other public safety agencies during emergency incidents.
- Drive fire apparatus, rescue vehicles, and other department vehicles as assigned.
- Operate fire pumps and other fire suppression equipment.
- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on fire apparatus, equipment, hydrants, draft sites, and other emergency equipment.
- Complete accurate and timely emergency incident reports.
- Assist with pre-fire planning surveys of commercial structures.
- Participate in required training to maintain certifications and job readiness.
- Assist with station and equipment maintenance and general housekeeping.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course/training.
- Three years of related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Required Certifications & Licenses:
- CPR Certification
- Emergency Medical Responder Certification/Training
- IFSAC Firefighter II or Pro Board Firefighter II Certification
- Pump Operations II
- EVDT
- Valid South Carolina Class D Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain the required Class E or CDL Class B license within six months of hire
We’re looking for individuals who can remain calm under pressure, work effectively as part of a team, and are committed to serving others. Successful candidates should be dependable, safety-conscious, physically capable of performing demanding firefighting duties, and prepared to respond when their community needs them most.
This position requires heavy physical work, including walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing, and other strenuous activities. Employees may regularly exert up to 50 pounds of force and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
