Senior Center Maintenance Coordinator

OverviewUnder the supervision of the Director of the Department of Senior Services, the Senior Center Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for all cleaning and maintenance within the Senior Center building. The Coordinator coordinates maintenance, assigns daily duties to the Maintenance Assistant, and performs maintenance of the facility, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for seniors.
Responsibilities- Perform daily cleaning duties including dusting, windows, emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning restrooms.
- Carry out weekly cleaning of the break room and meeting rooms, replenish supplies such as paper towels and toilet paper.
- Maintain the lawn and parking lot: pick up trash, mow, edge, provide weed control, and handle snow removal and ice control on sidewalks as needed.
- Set up and tear down meeting rooms, tables, chairs, tableware, and provide refreshments upon request.
- Operate maintenance equipment and light tools (mowers, edgers, snow blowers, lawnmowers, weed eaters).
- Coordinate services with outside vendors, maintain inventory of cleaning, bathroom, and lawn supplies, and submit monthly orders to the Director.
- Submit a monthly building log that includes repairs and maintenance completed, filter changes, drain maintenance, monthly emergency light checks, and fire extinguisher checks.
- Provide cross‑training and cover for other staff during absences to ensure efficient facility operation.
- Coordinate volunteer and other personnel work as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent, or an approved combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license, insurable under the Saline County fleet insurance policy.
- Knowledge of grounds and building/general maintenance and custodial practices.
- Ability to operate a lawnmower, weed eater, snow blower, and other light tools.
- Proven ability to be flexible and adapt to a wide variety of tasks.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a job schedule and assign duties.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and strong organizational skills.
- Computer proficiency in a Windows environment with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
Level 3 Medium Work:
The applicant must achieve a physical capacity profile score of 2.5 or above. Tasks may involve exerting up to 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds of force frequently, or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
