Job Summary
Exline, Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-driven Manual Machinist to join our team in Salina, Kansas. This role is responsible for setting up and operating conventional and special-purpose manual machine tools, with limited CNC support as needed, to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts to precise specifications. This position is ideal for a mechanically minded professional with strong manual machining experience and 1–2 years of CNC exposure, who takes pride in craftsmanship, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work safely at all times, following established safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Set up and operate manual machine tools including engine lathes, mills, boring mills, grinders, jig borers, and shapers.
- Utilize CNC knowledge to assist with automated machining tasks when required.
- Review and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, machining sequence, and setup requirements.
- Measure and mark reference points on materials or work pieces as guides for machining.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.
- Calculate and set machining parameters such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
- Start and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions; make adjustments as needed.
- Inspect finished parts to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
- Inspect own work and, when instructed, assist with inspection of others’ work.
- Record production data, measurements, and material usage accurately on job cards or reports.
- Organize and manage time independently to complete jobs efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to resolve machining or assembly challenges.
- Operate overhead hoists, cranes, forklifts, and pallet jacks safely to move parts and materials.
- Recommend and implement process improvements and efficiencies aligned with department objectives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with manual machining equipment and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Working knowledge of CNC machining (1–2 years preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and ask for assistance when appropriate.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English (bilingual a plus).
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two to four years of related machining experience and/or training preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Prior experience as a Manual Machinist required.
- Duties are performed independently with minimal supervision.
- Responsible for machine setup, machining operations, inspection, and documentation.
- Expected to recommend and implement process improvements and efficiencies.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and loud noise from machine tools.
- Occasional exposure to heat, dust, metal particles, and cutting fluids.
- Standard safety equipment and PPE are provided and required.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent reaching, handling tools, bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly; heavier items with assistance.
- Visual acuity required for reading measurements, operating machinery, and performing detailed inspections.
