Safety Mentor

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Safety Mentor to join our team. This position will support the Health and Safety team in training our production teams on safe work habits, recommend improvements to prevent accidents, support the Safety team on investigations, and ensure implementation of corrective actions. The Safety Mentor will serve on the plant’s Safety Committee and act as a resource for employee safety concerns.
This position typically works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime as required. The role must be flexible to work varied hours outside this schedule to coordinate with other shifts on occasion.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities- Train employees, new hire mentors, leads, and supervisors on safety policies and safe work habits.
- Inspect facilities to identify unsafe conditions and potential safety hazards, and recommend preventive safety improvements to the plant manager.
- Support the Safety team on investigations, root‑cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions to avoid future accidents.
- Partner with the Plant Manager to ensure corrective actions are implemented for recordable and Class A incidents.
- Serve on the Safety Committee and act as a resource for employee safety concerns.
- Support the Plant Manager in maintaining safety metrics.
- Complete the Safety Mentor Training Program, including OSHA 30 certification, Kubota Site Inspection Handbook Certification, Kubota Risk Assessment Training, Kubota ISE Training, Machine Guarding, Safety Dojo, LEAN training, and 6S training.
- Attend monthly meetings with the Safety team for additional training, discuss safety issues and solutions, and ensure consistent implementation across all plants to avoid accidents.
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require additional qualifications, physical demands, or a different work environment.
- Consistently work in a safe manner and encourage coworkers to work safely.
- Provide supervisors with suggestions to improve safety and help implement those ideas.
- Prior experience working in a production environment and the ability to maintain confidential information.
- Desire to learn safety training outlined above and willingness to implement safety programs and policies.
- Exhibit self‑motivation, a positive attitude, good organizational skills, and a results‑oriented mindset.
- Willingness and availability to work flexible hours.
