A Brief Summary Of This PositionThis is an individual contributor position responsible for monitoring galvanizing equipment and fluids to ensure safe and proper galvanizing operation for high quality galvanized products. The Chemical Process Tank Technician adjusts flow rates to provide maximum output of iron and zinc sulfate crystals, levels and changes crystal bags and filters, performs minor maintenance on the galvanizing process tanks, adds acid, maintains fluid levels and temperatures, operates the molten zinc recovery (MZR) machine, assists with loading the crystal trailer, washes down the process tanks, maintains the dryer area and areas under the process tanks, and assists in general plant clean‑up, housekeeping, and works safely with the required PPE.
EssentialFunctions
- Monitor galvanized equipment and fluids, adjusting flow rates.
- Add acid and maintain fluid levels and temperatures in the galvanizing processing tanks.
- Add nickel and albumin to the kettle, monitor the RO system.
- Operate screwdrivers, wrenches, and cutting tools for minor maintenance of the galvanizing process tanks.
- Operate forklift.
- Maintain and complete accurate logs.
- Work safely and attentively with constant focus on details.
- Communicate problems or needs to departmental supervision.
The Role
- Assist in operating the MZR machine.
- Assist in Material Handler duties as needed.
- Assist in general plant clean‑up and housekeeping.

- This position reports to the Coatings Maintenance Manager.
- No degree required.
- 0 to 1 year of relevant experience.
- Exposure to sulfuric acid.
- Ability to operate a forklift; use hand tools, electrical drills, saws, and pneumatic tools.
- Availability to work 1 to 2 shifts of overtime per week.
- Wear a respirator and other required PPE for extended periods.
- Perform basic math functions.
- Read and interpret simple charts, tables, flow diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 95% of the shift.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs, most frequent lift up to 20 lbs.
- Communicate and interact with coworkers professionally.
- Pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
- High awareness of safety, recognizing hazardous substances, and knowledge of employee responsibilities for chemical safety.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- One year of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- One year of experience operating hand and/or power tools.
- One year of experience with overhead crane operations.
- Prior on‑the‑job troubleshooting experience.
