This position is responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients with substance use disorders in detox and residential treatment programs. Responsibilities include managing and administering medications, educating both patients and their families about substance use disorders, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation of medication and patient information.
Essential Job Functions- Provide direct nursing care to patients with SUD, including monitoring vital signs, assessment, planning and evaluation.
- Administer medications and treatments according to doctor’s orders and established protocols, maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Educate patients and their families about SUD, medication management and what to expect during their stay.
- Complete COWS/CIWAS on detox patients, provide monitoring and treatment per standing orders.
- Observe patient behaviors and report observations to Residential Program Director.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records in electronic health records (EHR), including medication logs, controlled substance counts, and patient information.
- Provide general health education, HIV/AIDS education to patients and employees.
- Administer and document TB Skin testing for patients and employees.
- Count and accurately document patient medications upon patient admission.
- Perform weekly medication counts, document according to licensing standards.
- Inventory supplies and OTC medication and order prescribed medication for CKF stock supplies.
- Transport patients to hospital if medical assistance is required.
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage including in-person visits.
- Comply with state, federal and clinical regulations, HIPAA Standards, and universal precautions.
- Comply with all CKF policies and procedures and related clinical licensure policies.
- Other duties as assigned.

Level 4 – This position will have regular access to patient medical information and limited access to employee medical information through administration of TB skin testing.
