Food service Equipment Installers (or Trainees) Summary

As an installer, you are responsible for delivering, assembling, and installing various commercial kitchen fixtures and appliances, as well as ensuring proper operation of the equipment. This role requires technical skills, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. If you do not have the experience to start as an installer, you will start as a Helper with the intent to develop into an Installer and Senior Installer.

Duties

General Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all company and safety policies and standards.
    • Wear appropriate clothing; some job sites will require hard hats, safety glasses, work boots, and hearing protection. Be prepared for any situation.
    • Lift properly; ask for help when moving or lifting large items.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the installation process.
  • Follow DOT guidelines and traffic laws when driving for work.
Installation Responsibilities
  • Jobsite Departure Preparation:
    • Conduct daily inspections and cleaning of trucks to maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
    • Prepare loads, ensuring proper security for transport.
    • Make sure there is no damage; and if there is any, report it.
    • Verify material to manifest.
    • Confirm time and date stamp.
  • Jobsite
    • Use the designated parking lot on the job site; don't stay in the unloading area.
    • Use professional behavior and language.
    • We are guests on the job site, respect other trades, and job site management.
    • Safely unload trucks and handle products to minimize damage during transport.
    • Measure and cut materials to fit specifications, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
    • Install equipment and ensure proper connections, then test for functionality and address any issues or defects.
  • Jobsite Return
    • Unload and put away equipment brought back from the job site.
    • Replace parts used so they are available for the next project.
    • Clean vehicles after each job: remove all trash and clean the cab.
Other Responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
  • High school diploma for GED required or equivalent military or practical experience required.
  • Driver's license and acceptable driving history are required. Will need to obtain a DOT Medical Card to drive most vehicles.
  • Read, write, and understand equipment drawings is required (or the ability to learn within 3 months).
  • 2+ years relevant experience in construction industry is helpful.
  • Experience using power tools, drills, saws, grinders, hand tools, gas torches, and measuring instruments is helpful.
  • Previous architectural millwork installation experience is helpful.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving while working independently are required.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Time management and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment are required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to treat clients, colleagues, and vendors with respect.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit for long periods at a time for travel to/from work locations.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to perform a multitude of physical activities (stand/walk/bend/squat/kneel) regularly when performing installations.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder as needed.
  • May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, vibration, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
Other Requirements
  • Willingness to travel (25-50% of the time, mostly April - Nov), with occasional overnight stays.
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug screen.
