A Wausau Supply Company Driver operates a gasoline or diesel-powered tractor‑trailer combination to transport, unload, and deliver products to customers safely and efficiently. The Driver is responsible for understanding and supporting all company goals, including quality control and maintaining high standards of workmanship. This role requires anticipating potential issues that could impact long‑term objectives and taking proactive steps to prevent them.
To be effective, the Driver must demonstrate strong communication skills and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally. Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to customer service are essential to success in this position.
- Adhere to all safety standards set in place by Wausau Supply Company
- Complete safety trainings in a timely manner
- Complete a pre‑trip and post‑trip inspection on the tractor and trailer
- Check load and secure to D.O.T. Regulations; ensure the load is safe and legal before moving
- Drive truck safely and legally to customer locations and return to the distribution center
- Open curtains, unstrap product, count and check product for damage and shortages
- Assist receivers in unloading and loading the truck as needed
- Maintain driver logs and inspection reports according to D.O.T. regulations
- Always maintain good housekeeping and a professional image
- Must be able to work flexible schedule, with availability for occasional overnights to support business needs
- Use and follow company portals (Samsara, Cheetah, etc.) when making customer deliveries
- Adhere to expense policies and procedures set forth by Wausau Supply Company
- Minimum one year, 100,000 miles driving experience – preferred, but not required
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must possess a Class A CDL with air brake endorsement
- Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical
- Must pass a DOT Pre‑employment drug test
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds
- Able to push/pull 100 pounds
- Be able to assist in loading and unloading a variety of building materials as needed
- Able to obtain a D.O.T. medical card
