Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Route Bus Driver for the 2026-27 school year. This full-time position is based at the Solomon District Office, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school and related activities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a commitment to student safety, and a passion for working with children and the community.
Responsibilities- Safely operate a school bus along designated routes, ensuring timely arrival and departure at all stops.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior, adhering to district policies regarding cleanliness and safety.
- Manage student behavior on the bus, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all passengers.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and any changes.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and district policies while driving.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including route logs, incident reports, and maintenance records.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required, including safety training and professional development opportunities.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including medical situations and bus breakdowns.
- Collaborate with the transportation team to optimize routes and improve service efficiency.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport. (we will help with expenses if you have not passed)
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and regulations related to school bus operation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with students and parents.
- Ability to manage student behavior and maintain discipline on the bus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
- Physical ability to assist students as needed, including helping with boarding and disembarking.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and drug testing as required by district policy.
- DOT physical required (district paid)
