OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a qualified Safety Specialist with an active OSHA 510 certification to support a distribution warehouse project focused on conveyor installation. This role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining site safety practices, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, and promoting a culture of safety among all personnel on-site.
The ideal candidate will have experience in construction safety, particularly in warehouse environments and material handling systems, and will play a key role in hazard identification, risk mitigation, and incident prevention during conveyor installation phases.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of the warehouse and installation activities.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, company, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Monitor contractor safety compliance, including PPE use, fall protection, lockout/tagout, and equipment operation.
- Lead daily safety meetings and toolbox talks with crews and subcontractors.
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and ensure effective hazard communication.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses; document findings and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain site safety documentation, permits, and training records.
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to maintain a safe work environment.
- Identify and address unsafe behaviors and conditions proactively.
- Support onboarding safety orientations for all site workers.
- OSHA 510 Certification (Required).
- 5+ years of safety experience in an industrial, warehouse, or construction environment.
- Experience with conveyor installation or material handling systems (Preferred).
- Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound safety decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and safety documentation systems.
- Work is primarily conducted in an active construction zone within a warehouse environment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate uneven surfaces for extended periods.
- May require occasional evening or weekend hours depending on project needs.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Drug Screen may be required.
