Job Description
KSBW-TV/ccABC/Estrella, part of Hearst Television, is looking for a self‑motivated Videographer/Editor who can capture and edit stories in the field and in the newsroom. The role involves shooting video on Sony XD Cam, GoPro, laptop and iPhone, editing in Adobe Premiere, and coordinating live feeds and content for multiple newscasts and online platforms. Success requires strong technical skill, excellent editing, timing, communication, and adherence to journalistic standards.
The position reports to the News Director.
- Shoot video and edit VOs, VO‑SOTs, and packages for broadcast and online posting
- Collaborate with the Assignment Desk and reporters to cover daily stories
- Collect video and still photos for digital platforms
- Work with reporters and producers to ensure high‑quality content and accurate facts
- Translate producers’ creative vision into vivid video with natural sound
- Communicate and coordinate incoming video elements from field crews
- Use catalog systems to record and locate necessary footage
- Publish content to online platforms
- Maintain flexibility with hours and shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proven experience with Non‑Linear Editing (Adobe Premiere)
- Previous newsroom experience preferred; military experience considered
- Physically able to carry up to 50 pounds and operate equipment in all weather
- Operational knowledge of ENG trucks and large vehicles; valid driver’s license with near‑perfect driving record
- Strong digital editing proficiency and organizational skills
- Self‑starter who can work independently and make quick decisions under pressure
- Bilingual ability is a plus
- In‑person attendance required
- Combination of education and experience considered; DINFOS training considered favorable
- FAA Part 107 Drone license is a plus
