Position OverviewThe Program Manager oversees all aspects of a comprehensive after‑school program. Responsibilities include pre‑season training, in‑season program management, staff coaching and management, and interaction with students and parents. The Program Manager ensures smooth daily operations, including snack time, outdoor play, homework help, SEL and STEAM activities. This is an on‑site role.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain positive relationships with key contacts of the partnership.
- Build healthy relationships with all site staff including principals, office staff, teachers and custodians.
- Meet regularly with site staff to ensure smooth collaboration and adherence to site specifications.
- Manage site budget, reconcile actuals with agreed budget, including flex budget, payroll expenses, staff appreciation and professional development.
- Oversee payroll accuracy, ensuring timesheets are correct and overtime remains under budget.
- Direct and coordinate programs for assigned locations, leading accountability for the site.
- Lead and supervise small and large employee teams, applying problem‑solving methods as needed.
- Observe student behavior and apply appropriate behavior‑management techniques and corrective actions.
- Recruit, hire and train effective program staff capable of managing classrooms and delivering EDMO’s curriculum.
- Provide ongoing coaching, counseling and goal setting for program staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and evaluations.
- Follow EDMO’s program policies and procedures, and be the expert on available resources.
- Plan and implement culturally relevant "Community Week" activities, submitting plans by deadline.
- Maintain program standards, ensuring safety, cleanliness and a positive environment.
- Lead site staff meetings, training, safety demonstrations and refresher sessions.
- Train, coach and manage instructors (and site assistants, if applicable).
- Participate in all program training, professional development and in‑season meetings.
- Provide exceptional customer service by anticipating and addressing issues involving children, staff, partners, site staff or parents.
- Communicate with parents to keep them informed about their child’s experiences.
- Manage site inventory, ensuring materials are requested, received and organized.
- Demonstrate and promote SEL skills:
Self‑Awareness, Problem‑Solving, Advocacy, Collaboration and Empathy. - Complete all assigned tasks within deadlines.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support continuous program improvement.
- Passion and experience working with children.
- Experience working with youth of all ages.
- Previous involvement in an after‑school environment, as staff or participant.
- Proven experience hiring, coaching and managing a team of employees.
