Under the general direction of the Principal, the Para educator performs a variety of duties assisting teachers in the overall support of instructional activities for students who are enrolled in special education moderate/severe programs and/or mainstream classrooms.

• Education as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015:
  High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree OR able to meet a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics.
• Prior job‑related experiences, paid or voluntary, with school‑age children or children/individuals with disabilities.

• Coursework in education, psychology, child development, classroom behavior management, and/or Early Childhood Education.
• Experience working with students with disabilities and implementing behavioral management plans for students.
