EDMO is a thriving educational nonprofit that has been inspiring and empowering young minds since 2004. We provide out-of-school programs including award-winning summer camps and after-school programs, with a commitment to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) education. EDMO partners with school districts across Northern California and pursues equitable access to quality programming.
Job DescriptionAt EDMO, staff members connect with kids, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact while engaging in a dynamic, energetic environment. The role focuses on developing transferable professional skills (mentoring, classroom management) and advancing social-emotional learning (collaboration, empathy, problem-solving) alongside the children.
Main Duties Include- Approach education with passion and build positive role-model relationships with students
- Refine curriculum and contribute as appropriate
- Interact with parents professionally and energetically
- Cultivate healthy self-esteem and a love for learning
- Be responsible for supply inventory, bin prep, and clean-up
- Maintain accurate reporting: attendance records, class notes, daily logs, incident reports
- Lead engaging, well-organized recreation activities promoting teamwork and safe, active play
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions
- Ensure all students are safe and have a positive experience
- Model EDMO SEL skills (self-awareness, problem-solving, advocacy, collaboration, empathy) in actions and speech
Reports to: Program Manager/Coordinator or Senior Program Manager/Coordinator
Requirements- Must be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
- Experience working with groups of students
- Ability to complete the Instructional Assistant Exam (may be waived with a Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework, AA degree, or 48 college-level units; proof required for employment)
- Three positive work/character references
- Must complete Livescan and TB test
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to carry teaching materials
- Experience facilitating groups of children or youth programs
- Strong sense of responsibility, dependability, enthusiasm, and teamwork
- Classroom management and teaching experience
- Degree in progress in a related field or relevant experience
- Science background (biology, chemistry, physics) and basic lab skills
- Engineering experience
- Ability to improvise with costumes, skits, and songs is a plus
- Teaching credentials or progress toward credentials is a bonus

- Strength: ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds; may involve restraint in rare situations
- Environmental: work indoors and outdoors; handle interruptions and collaborate with others
- Mental: ability to read, write, interpret information; high school level math; manage stress

Salary: $20–$23/hr depending on location, region, and experience

Regular Days: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm;
Minimum Days: 1:25 pm – 6:00 pm (some sub availability)
