Title:

Compensation & Benefits- Salary: $24.33 - $31.43 per hour
- Length of Work Year:
Monday–Friday, 6 hours a day; 183 days per year - Employment Type:
Full Time
Under the general direction of the Principal, the Bilingual Para educator performs a variety of duties assisting teachers in the overall support of instructional activities for students enrolled in special education moderate/severe programs and/or mainstream classrooms.
Qualifications- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) or an Associate’s degree or higher. Alternatively, demonstrate a rigorous standard of quality through a formal state or local academic assessment.
- Knowledge: Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; knowledge of First Aid and universal health precautions; strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Licenses & Certifications (within 6 months of employment): Valid California Driver’s License with evidence of insurability;
First Aid; MCOE Crisis Intervention Program; CPR; MCOE sign language test (for Program for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing); MCOE Spanish Language Competency Test. - Additional Test: Must pass a MCOE bilingual skills test (invitation only).
- Documents Required for Application: Copy of transcript, letter of introduction, proof of high school graduation, resume.
- Incentives:
$150 per month for Paraeducators with sign‑language proficiency in the DHH program; $150 per month for those proficient in Braille; $150 per month for specialized health care procedures; $500 annual training incentive for employees who volunteer for certification and emergency medication procedures. - All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a CTC‑approved agency to determine U.S. equivalents; the evaluation must be attached to the application.
