Initial placement up to 20 years of creditable experience may be accepted upon verification. Master’s Degree – $2,000 annual stipend. Doctorate Degree – $3,000 annual stipend.

Job SummaryUnder direction, through individual and group instruction, assists pupils to fulfill their capacities for mental, physical, emotional and social growth; uses teaching techniques appropriate to stimulate their abilities and interests; uses specialized materials, equipment and instructional procedures as necessary to meet the individual needs of blind or low-vision pupils.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university.
- California Teaching Credential authorizing performance of service with programs for the visually impaired.
- Specialized techniques and skills pertinent to working with the visually impaired, such as braille reading and writing, training in use of various technological devices and optical aids.
- Background and/or certification in orientation and mobility.
- Knowledge of technology for Braille, large print and talking software.

- Experience working with children with visual impairments age birth through 21 years of age.
- Experience working with children with severe disabilities.
- Teaching experience in general education programs, elementary or secondary.
- Ability to use Sign Language.
- Bilingual.
