The Department Information Systems Manager I provides expertise and general consultation on a variety of issues related to feasibility analysis, implementation, and evaluation of information system solutions to business and administrative processes. They plan, manage, coordinate, and supervise departmental staff activities engaged in supporting automated information systems and technology projects; oversee identification and definition of opportunities and strategies to use information technology to simplify, integrate, and improve County departmental processes, including analysis of departmental business needs and problems;
coordinate with County ITD as necessary; and perform other duties as required. The role is responsible for departmental functions that are large, varied, complex, and diverse.
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of information systems technology, including system architecture, client‑server applications, database systems and report applications.
- Working knowledge of project management principles and practices, including needs assessment, project prioritization, cost‑benefit analysis, and contract monitoring.
- Some knowledge of management principles, including budgeting and staff supervision.
- Ability to provide leadership in advancing information technology and implementing best business practices.
- Ability to plan, organize, assign, review, and evaluate the work of others; establish goals and performance standards.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Completion of all coursework leading to a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Science, Office Automation, or closely related field.
- Four years of experience analyzing business processes and information systems, including two years at advanced journey level.
