County – Part time Driver

Job Description

Main Duty:

Drive ITNMonterey

County customers (seniors and people with visual impairment) to and/or from various locations so they can take care of their medical and healthcare needs, grocery and pharmacy shopping, social and recreational activities, and visits with friends and family.

Time and Location

A minimum of two or more hours per day, at least two days a week, as needed based upon ride volume. Must be reliable, willing to drive early mornings, some nights and weekends. Most travel will be on the peninsula, in the Salinas area. Occasional driving support for our rural projects may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid CA driver's license and 5+ years of driving experience (Background check required)
Acceptable driving record (no more than one moving violation in 12-month period)
Current valid proof of insurance
Access to internet and email
Personal references from 2-3 non-relatives
Spanish speaking preferred

Activities:

Maintain a clean (inside and out) vehicle, or Fleet car when available for use.

Have an open space in a trunk or back seat for a walker or wheelchair

Be on time for each ride (notify the office or call the rider about any delays)

Escort riders to and/or from their origin and destination.

Casual Business attire must be neat and clean.

Wear your and show ITNMonterey

County placard on passenger side of the windshield.

Introduce yourself to each rider when you pick them up.

Do not consume alcohol before a ride; do not smoke in your vehicle before picking up a rider.

Maintain a friendly, courteous, but professional manner during the ride; keep personal information confidential unless the office needs to know something to better serve the rider.

Call the office to report any additions or deviations from the scheduled ride, if you are running late for a pick-up, or if you have a sudden emergency that will prevent you from doing a ride.
