The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) works with the Store Manager to direct and lead all day‑to‑day store operations. The ASM makes final decisions on store operations when the Store Manager is absent, manages store conditions, product quality, and inventory, and leads front‑end and center‑store operations. Responsibilities include achieving sales and gross profit goals, controlling labor and operating expenses, ensuring compliance with laws and company programs, and hiring and developing team members.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities- Excellent leadership and team‑building skills; manages front‑end operations, oversees cash handling, develops work shift schedules, and conducts time‑management training.
- Oversees inventory, resolves out‑of‑stocks, audits product quality for date integrity, and addresses vendor and warehouse issues.
- Coaches and evaluates team members, completes performance reviews, and participates in advancement and disciplinary decisions.
- Manages the in‑store training program, developing and providing subject‑matter content to improve performance and operations.
- Provides developmental opportunities, including individualized and group training, coaching, and advancement pathways.
- Participates in recruiting and hiring, evaluating applicants, conducting interviews, and overseeing onboarding.
- Supports the Store Manager in managing a sales‑oriented team, training them to meet front‑end and center‑store objectives.
- Promotes two‑way communication with customers and team members, identifies improvement areas, and implements store‑specific programs.
- Directs work assignments, supports execution of store‑level business strategy, and ensures customer focus throughout the store.
- Supports sales goals by tracking profitability and recommending expense controls.
- Oversees product recalls, store cleanliness, maintenance, and regulatory inspections.
- Maintains compliance with sanitation, safety, security, and legal mandates.

Four‑year college degree or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience.
ExperienceTwo years of related experience.
Physical RequirementsBasic office environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull, and lift objects.
