Machine Operator

Schedule: 4:30PM-3:30AM (overtime and weekends as required)

May vary, depending on business needs

Pay Rate: $21.75hr

• Shift Differential: $0.50/hr while working on 2nd shift.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the shift Production Supervisor, the associate is responsible for operating production machinery and leading fellow team members in a safe and efficient manner that will result in a quality product for the customer.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months of Machine Operator experience preferred.
• 1 year of high-speed production experience preferred.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

Desired Qualifications

• Relevant food manufacturing or packaging experience a plus.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish a plus).

Responsibilities

• Ensure “Safety First” is always practiced and observes and adheres to all job safety rules.
• Assemble machines and energize pre-operational warm up.
• Prepare the room for production and ensure the proper equipment is available for the associates.
• Prepare paperwork and check product versus work order bill of materials.
• Coordinate with the quality control department and perform 1st Article of Inspection.
• Verify all components, set up code dater, and verify set-up.
• Complete machine set-up validation.
• Complete preoperational check and proper paperwork.
• Assist QC in performing First article testing.
• Assist QC in checking package to ensure product meets proper specifications (code date, work order number, etc.).
• Monitor production to ensure specifications are maintained.
• Ensure machine runs at efficient speed with a minimum amount of waste and rework.
• Record all changeovers and document downtime.
• Support Quality Control and operations by maintaining basic operational sanitation, including condensation control, trash removal, floor cleanliness, and proper personal hygiene.
• Ensure changeover return to stock product is processed and documented properly according to SOP.

Abide by ALL Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SOPs.

• Responsible for reporting Food Defense observations to Quality Teams.
• Assure line is cleaned at the end of the shift.
• Performing other work-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Environment

• Repetitive lifting, push, pulling up to 50 pounds
• Frequent standing walking, bending, twisting, lifting, climbing stairs
• Normal vision, hearing sensitivity and manual dexterity is necessary in position
• Fast pace manufacturing/packaging work environment
