GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY
PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for operating dryers and dryer decks, as well as handling basket filling and transport, elevators, filling and transport of ingredients and packaging supplies to Ready-to-Eat (RTE) lines, scanning of ingredients for traceability, and ensuring the safe handling of products to produce Safe Quality Food (SQF).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION:- Move products from wash tanks to dryers and then to elevators.
- Use hand-eye coordination to operate the overhead conveyor and hoist system.
- Maintain a steady flow of product from the dryer room to the scale mezzanine.
- Inspect products and equipment for possible contaminants.
- Engage in extensive climbing, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift.
- React quickly to the fast-paced and constant movement of dryer baskets and carts between the washing system, dryer deck, and elevators.
- Keep floors and machinery clear of debris and excess water.
- Fill and transport ingredients and packaging to RTE lines.
- Maintain a steady flow of product from the prep-kitchen to the kitchen (assembly room) in RTE.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
COMPETENCIES:
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a food processing facility is preferred but not required. Willing to provide training.
SKILLS: Strong oral communication skills are necessary.
ADDITIONAL: Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision. Regular and acceptable attendance is required, along with the ability to follow directions, interact well with coworkers, and understand and adhere to posted work rules and procedures. Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34F. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia are present. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted for up to one-half of the workday, and 10 lbs. overhead as job demands.
Constant standing on a concrete floor, including reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements, may be required.
Moving machinery, including conveyors and forklifts, operates in the immediate area.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts is preferred or required.
EXPERIENCE ANDEDUCATION:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent demonstrated ability to perform required tasks.
