Supervising Nurse I – Pediatric Unit (Summary)
Key Requirements:
Prior RN Supervisor or strong Charge Nurse experience required; active California RN license; BLS & PALS required (POC certification offered in-house if needed); STABLE and NRP preferred.
Role Overview :
The Supervising Nurse I (SNI) provides both direct patient care and first-level nursing leadership in the Pediatric Unit under the direction of the Supervising Nurse II. This role carries 24-hour responsibility for supervising clinical personnel, coordinating daily patient care operations, and ensuring high-quality, safe pediatric care in accordance with physician orders, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and manage pediatric care plans
Monitor patient status and respond rapidly to clinical changes or emergencies
Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products; monitor treatments and outcomes
Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges
Supervise nursing staff and oversee daily clinical operations in the pediatric unit
Provide education and mentorship to nursing staff and serve as a clinical resource
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff training, and policy development
Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families to ensure effective care delivery
Core Competencies:
Strong knowledge of pediatric nursing practices, acute care hospital operations, medication management, supervision principles, quality assurance processes, and regulatory requirements. Must demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, communication, and the ability to manage staff performance and clinical operations effectively.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform full RN duties in an acute care setting, including patient assessments, documentation, and supervision of clinical staff while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
EA Team Job . Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
