Travel RN – Emergency Department (Salinas, CA)

Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as an ER RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP, SANE certifications
  • Additional certifications or licenses may be required
Summary

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse delivers rapid‑response, high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced ED. The role requires assessment, urgent care plans, life‑saving treatments, multidisciplinary collaboration, critical thinking, and high standards of patient safety.

Essential Work Functions
  • Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on severity
  • Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved protocols
  • Prepare equipment and aid physicians during emergency treatments and examinations
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout stay, responding to immediate needs
  • Observe and document patient conditions per scope of practice
  • Take and monitor vital signs, addressing deviations and preventing complications
  • Respond to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, and protocols
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EMR
  • Initiate patient education plans tailored to acute care needs
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers, and other support staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills

  • Ability to comprehend written instructions and follow verbal directions; PC proficiency
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend
