RN – Labor & Delivery (Acute)

Salinas, CA

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | 3–4 Weekend Shifts per 28-Day Schedule

• Provide direct nursing care to Labor & Delivery patients in an acute hospital setting, including high-risk obstetric cases involving diabetic populations and complex conditions
• Monitor and manage patients on Magnesium and insulin drips, maintaining a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in accordance with AWHONN staffing standards
• Support and circulate for scheduled C-Sections, following the patient through the full care episode until sign-off
• Perform triage assessments and assist with pre-operative preparation for surgical obstetric cases
• Utilize fetal surveillance systems and electronic health record platforms for accurate, timely documentation and medication administration
• Collaborate with the clinical team on procedures including external versions and second-trimester cerclages as scheduled

• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of California
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Labor & Delivery setting
• BLS and ACLS certifications issued through the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification or equivalent

• Experience with Meditech (PCS and ORM modules) and OBIX fetal surveillance systems
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication administration systems and Solaris IV pumps
• Prior experience in a Level II Trauma or teaching hospital environment

• Work in a recognized regional medical center that serves as the sole trauma center for its county, offering exposure to a diverse and high-acuity patient population
• Scrubs are provided for traveling L&D nurses, and a structured orientation program with unit-based preceptorship is included prior to independent patient assignment
