Perform related duties supporting the operation of retail store locations. Serve donors and customers in a variety of ways ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. Provide outstanding customer service to promote store sales and achieve store goals.

• Greet donors and customers on entry and offer assistance and suggestions for product selections.
• Become trained in cash handling and use the store cash register system to complete transactions accurately.
• Assist with store opening/closing procedures.
• Manage merchandise inventory on the sales floor following procedures, straighten and rearrange merchandise to increase appeal, ensuring a neat, safe environment.
• Assist with stock rotation and markdowns as directed by the Store Manager.
• Prepare store donations and rotated merchandise for transfer to the central processing plant.
• Communicate problems, complaints, potential theft or safety issues to the Store Manager.

• Perform donor services such as taking donations, documenting donation information and communicating with donors.
• Perform daily sanitization of store and donation locations.
• Perform minor janitorial duties as required.
• May perform other duties not listed in this description.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
License/Certification: None.
Experience: None; previous sales experience preferred.
Knowledge: Basic math, familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast’s mission, general company and retail policies, electronic cash registers.

• Material handling equipment: carts, hand trucks, dolly, and racks.
• Typical retail store equipment.
• Cash register/computer-based system and related automated tools.

The job involves limited emotional effort. Few deadlines and minimal overtime. Routine work environment with occasional high activity periods.

Work in an enclosed storeroom floor. The area is heated and ventilated. Regular cleaning keeps dust and dirt minimal. Minor noise and vibrations; radios/TVs may be on.

Constant standing and walking, frequent lifting/carrying of objects up to 25 lbs. Large items handled with equipment or assistance. Standing, walking, bending, pushing/pulling, and lifting/carrying are regular. Climbing, squatting, and kneeling occasionally. Longest distance carried: 50 feet, heaviest item: 25 lbs.
