Overview
We are working with a well‑respected multi‑location equipment dealership looking to bring on a Parts Manager to one of their locations. This person will be in charge of all parts and inventory along with handling some sales themselves.
Responsibilities- Understand and manage the key indices within the department as they relate to the Store’s plans and Company initiatives to meet or exceed financial goals (e.g., variance to a sales plan, gross margin dollars, gross margin percentages, outside purchases, parts obsolescence, etc.).
- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with manufacturer partners.
- Know the specific SSA customer base and product base that serve as the revenue source for the Store.
- Ensure parts counter staff effectively facilitate the point‑of‑sale process, maintaining high customer service levels and developing selling skills through on‑the‑job training.
- Handle customer parts inquiries and resolve complaints/issues.
- Take charge of all aspects of marketing and merchandising of the parts department to maximize department revenues, including developing sales plans aligned with market opportunity, Store, and Company initiatives.
- Ensure customer satisfaction for all parts encounters.
- Place emergency parts orders to meet customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all employees follow safety policies and procedures.
- Serve as a role model for environmental health and safety.
- Maintain the upkeep and overall appearance of the parts department.
- Administer all paperwork associated with the parts department, including work orders, parts ordering and returns, and oversee effective completion of all documentation.
- Oversee ongoing training and development of all parts department employees.
- Three or more years of experience in related parts and operations.
- Ability to lead and manage people effectively.
- Strong time‑management and multi‑tasking skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of internal and external business processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in resolving employee and customer conflicts efficiently.
- Experience operating in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
- Client‑service skills and ability to develop strong business relationships.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Capacity to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work independently.
- Capacity to perform in a fast‑paced, stressful work environment.
