Truck Driver Class A CDL

Title: CDL A Driver

Classification: Full Time – Hourly

Pay Range: $20 to $23 plus union pension

Location: Salinas, CA

Reports To: Yard Supervisor/Dispatcher

A CDL driver operates commercial vehicles requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to transport goods, materials, or equipment safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include adhering to Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). performing vehicle inspections and maintenance checks, managing delivery schedules, and ensuring accurate documentation for cargo and routes. The role often involves loading and unloading materials, communicating with dispatchers, and maintaining a clean driving record.

• Deliver and unload materials to customers’ satisfaction, taking precautions to protect product and customer property.
• Act as customer service liaison, handling customer concerns and helping to resolve issues as they arise.
• Adhere to assigned delivery schedule and follow all job directives precisely.
• Verify order details and maintain a log of deliveries, including amounts and/or weights, mileage and locations of deliveries.
• Check items against invoice to ensure accuracy of order.
• Complete a thorough load check on your truck before leaving the branch, ensuring that all delivery materials are firmly secured and all parts of your truck are in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain service logs and pre/post trip inspection procedures.
• Operate all trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
• Assist supervisor, other associates, and other work areas as assigned.

• Valid Class A CDL
• Must be 21 years of age
• Experience operating a Flatbed/Flatbed Dump Truck is preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.
• Ability to effectively present information to customers and other employees.
• Ability to lift up to 60–100 lbs.
• Ability to pull, push, and grip and ability to stoop and climb 2–3 feet steps (into & out of cab).
• Must take and pass drug test and consent to a background check.
• Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materials is a plus.
