JOB DESCRIPTION
The GSRP/Preschool Substitute plays a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment for our youngest learners. This position emphasizes assisting with classroom needs and addressing the social, emotional, and physical development of children in a play-based, developmentally appropriate learning setting. You will help support teachers with implementing engaging activities that promote curiosity, self-regulation, foundational skills, and cooperative play, while also encouraging problem solving among
students.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education/Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Experience working with preschool children in a structured classroom setting
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and exercise exceptional judgement around children
- Ability to exercise patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm for supporting young children
- CDA (Child Development Associate) Certification
- Coursework in early childhood education, child development, or related fields
- Three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified as a lead teacher in a GSRP classroom
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Develops and implements age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with the Michigan Early Childhood Standards.
- Provides direct instruction, manages the classroom, and supervises teacher assistants or aides.
- Observes and assesses children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, documenting progress and communicating with parents.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized learning environment that is developmentally appropriate.
- Communicates regularly with parents and families, collaborates with other staff members, and participates in professional development.
- Ensures compliance with Michigan Licensing requirements.
- Ensures compliance with WISD regulations and guidelines for the GSRP class.
- Work with the Saline Area Schools Special Early Childhood program to develop and implement individualized plans for children with specific needs or developmental delays.
- Manages classroom behavior using positive behavior guidance strategies.
- Use COR Advantage to track children's progress and document developmental milestones.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all families.
- Record maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of the best practices in early childhood education
- Knowledge of child development theories and practices.
- Ability to evaluate, design, and implement High Scope curriculum and early childhood teaching methodologies
- Ability to provide activities for children that encourage growth and development.
- Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
- Knowledge of the High Scope curriculum and the COR Advantage assessment tool.
- Knowledge of the CLASS tool.
Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or
pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part of the job.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
The successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical
examination and a negative TB test result. The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal, and a fingerprinting background check.

- This is an Edustaff position without a regular schedule.
- This position is not eligible for benefits.
