Part-Time Secondary Science Teacher

The middle school science teacher is responsible for the instructional program and implementation of activities for Pre-AP Biology at the 8th grade level. This part-time position for 26-27 will teach Pre-AP Biology during the 1st hour for two out of three trimesters. This course is an opportunity to generate enthusiasm in future scientists through engaging and rigorous coursework designed for the young adolescent.

The Pre-AP Biology course utilizes Collegeboard's Pre-AP Biology framework and collaborates with the 8th grade science department to ensure complementary programming and planning. The teacher of Pre-AP Biology will structure meaningful learning experiences that prepare learners for future AP Biology and adjacent courses.

• Valid Secondary Michigan Teaching Certificate required.
• Science (DA, DX, or DI)

• A minimum of 3+ years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level
• Possess experience with computer instruction and technology.
• Experience and proficiency with incorporating Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) daily into the classroom.
• Possess the skills and desire to work in a collaborative team with others.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the teacher's role in a team environment.

• Collaborate in advancing high-quality instructional practices aligned with the expectations of the Science Department and the Danielson Framework for Teaching.
• Design and deliver instruction using evidence-based practices that effectively meet the diverse needs of all learners, including students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Section 504 Plans, and English Learner (EL) programs.
• Implement all Saline Area Schools (SAS) Board policies, administrative procedures, and school expectations consistently and effectively within the classroom and school environment.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including attendance, grades, behavior, assessments, and other district-required documentation, in accordance with state and federal laws.
• Plan, deliver, and continuously evaluate high-quality instruction within the assigned area of responsibility to maximize student engagement and achievement.
• Regularly assess student progress, provide timely and meaningful feedback, and adjust instructional practices to meet the individual learning needs of all students.
• Participate as an active member of Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams by contributing to the development, implementation, and monitoring of student goals and instructional support.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, school improvement initiatives, collaborative planning, and other district or building committees as appropriate.
• Analyze student performance and progress data to inform instructional decisions, monitor growth, and improve student outcomes.
• Comply with all district health, safety, and security policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe learning and working environment.
• Cultivate positive, collaborative relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators through open, respectful, and effective communication that supports student success.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the building Principal or designee.

• Plan and deliver high-quality instruction that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students within the assigned area of responsibility.
