Summary
Administer in the day-to‑day oversight of fiscal department hereby keeping program managers and directors abreast of trends in spending. Provide support and guidance to Head Start Program staff.
Responsibilities- Assist the Administrator in the implementation of division goals.
- Maintain an accounting system for recording expenditures by program account.
- Monitor monthly spending projections.
- Bank statements reconciliation.
- Manage the preparation, analysis, and timely submission of accurate financial statements, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of audits.
- Attend meetings and trainings to advance knowledge and skills.
- Keep abreast of changing developments in the area of operation.
- Prepare bank deposits.
- Prepare requisitions for cash.
- Verify check requests and purchase orders.
- Assist in the preparation of all agency tax filings.
- Assure that all voided checks are properly mutilated and retained on file.
- Prepare budget modifications and review new grant.
- Prepare chart of accounts.
- Maintain a system for all agency inventory.
- Comply with generally accepted accounting standards and practices.
- Assist in the overall operation of the fiscal office when needed.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience with auditing in a non‑profit setting. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with accounting software and financial reporting.
- Ability to handle detailed work and other responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to write budgets and assist with the completion of grant applications.
- Ability to manage large budgets.
- Strong analytic and problem‑solving skills.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Report to:
Administrator. - Salary Range: $71,000-$74,000.
- Work Hours:
Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm. - Status/Classification:
Full‑time Exempt.
