Summary

Administer in the day-to-day oversight of the fiscal department, hereby keeping program managers and directors abreast of trends in spending. Provide support and guidance to Head Start Program staff.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Administrator in the implementation of division goals.
  • Maintain an accounting system for recording expenditures by program account.
  • Monitor monthly spending projections.
  • Bank statements reconciliation.
  • Manage the preparation, analysis, and timely submission of accurate financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of audits.
  • Attend meetings and trainings to advance knowledge and skills.
  • Keep abreast of changing developments in the area of operation.
  • Prepare bank deposits.
  • Prepare requisitions for cash.
  • Verify check requests and purchase orders.
  • Assist in the preparation of all agency tax filings.
  • Ensure that all voided checks are properly mutilated and retained on file.
  • Prepare budget modifications and review new grants.
  • Prepare chart of accounts.
  • Maintain a system for all agency inventory.
  • Comply with generally accepted accounting standards and practices.
  • Assist in the overall operation of the fiscal office when needed.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience with auditing in a non-profit setting. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with accounting software and financial reporting.
  • Ability to handle detailed work and other responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Ability to write budgets and assist with the completion of grant applications.
  • Ability to manage large budgets.
  • Strong analytic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
Details
  • Report to:
    Administrator.
  • Salary Range: $71,000-$74,000.
  • Work Hours:

    Monday‑Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm.
  • Status/Classification:
    Full-time Exempt.
