Delmarva Public Media 's Senior Reporter/News Lead leads the station's local news operation while producing high-quality reporting for broadcast and digital audiences. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines newsroom management, editorial direction, and original reporting. The Senior Reporter/News Lead will help shape Delmarva Public Media's editorial vision, oversee daily newsroom operations, supervise a small staff and student journalists, and produce enterprise and daily news stories.

Working closely with the Chief Content Officer, the Senior Reporter/News Lead ensures that Delmarva Public Media's journalism is accurate, independent, equitable and community centered. The position also coordinates with regional news partners, manages cross-platform distribution strategies, and helps grow the reach and impact of local journalism across the Delmarva Peninsula.

The position reports to Bryan Russo and oversees the work of (currently) one full-time and two part-time reporters as well as student interns in our student newsroom.

The position is a Contingent II, full-time, exempt position.

  • Five or more years of professional journalism and leadership experience, including experience assigning, editing, or leading newsroom projects.
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and collaborate with staff and emerging journalists.
  • Experience producing radio content.
  • Strong editorial judgment and commitment to accuracy, fairness, and ethical journalism.
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced news environment.
