Child Care Teacher Position Summary

Teacher caregivers provide for the continual health, safety, and well-being of all the children assigned to them, and indirectly, for all the children in the Center. Adheres to all Medical Center policies and procedures as well as the regulations of the Maryland State Child Care Administration. This teacher will be primarily in the infant/toddler rooms.

Position Requirements

Education

* Must be 19 years of age.

* Hold a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence required.

* Must have evidence of 12 hours of continuing training each year.

* Heartsaver First Aid & CPR certification within 6 months of hire is required.

* Must have completed 3 semester hours of approved training or the equivalent related exclusively to the care of infants and toddlers and meet one of the following:

* 6 semester hours or 90 clock hours or their equivalent of approved pre-employment training; or hold the Child Development Associate Credential issued by the Child Development Associate National Credentialing Program.

* 9 clock hours of approved pre-service training in communicating with staff, parents and the public, or a college class of three or more credits.

* 1 year of experience working under supervision primarily with preschoolers in a licensed child care center, nursery school, church-operated school or similar setting or as registered family child care provider caring for preschoolers or:

* 1 year of college or a combination of experience and college together are equivalent to one year.

* Holds an associates or higher degree with approved courses in early Childhood education.

* Qualified before July 1, 2008 as a child care teacher in a preschool center and has been continuously employed since that time at the same or another preschool.

* Has been approved as a teacher by the Maryland State Department of Education for early childhood in nursery school through third grade; or is certified by the Maryland State Department of Education or by any other state for early childhood in nursery school through third grade.

Experience

* 1 to 3 years experience working under supervision primarily with preschoolers in a licensed child care center, nursery school, church-operated school, or similar setting.

Salary range: $17.09 - $23.08 Commensurate with experience
