Job Description SALARY

Commensurate with certification, degree, and experience based on the Wicomico County Unit II Salary Scale. Includes employee benefits package.

HOURS
  • 12 months, (260 days)
  • FLSA:
    Exempt
  • Contract Unit:
    This position is part of the Unit II (Administrative and Supervisory) bargaining unit
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hold or be eligible for Maryland State Department of Education certificate as a School Psychologist.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using the English language when deemed necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct and interpret psychological assessments of students to parents, school staff, and students, as appropriate.
  • Assist in the development of educational activities and behavior management programs as they relate to individual student needs.
  • Meet with the IEP team to participate in eligibility determination, placement decisions, IEP development, and program reviews of students with disabilities.
  • Complete functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans for students with behavioral needs.
  • Provide professional development for staff and families regarding disabilities, early intervention, behavior intervention and mental health supports.
  • Provide counseling services to students.
  • Provide crisis intervention to school-based personnel, students and families.
  • Participate in school-based prevention and intervention programs.
  • Assist school officials in maintaining effective communication between students, parents, the community, and schools.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to students, staff, and parents.
  • Serve on other committees, as needed, to support school and school system improvement efforts.
