Bilingual Registration and Orientation Assistant – Part Time

Hourly pay: $18.41 per hour (grant‑funded)

Pay grade: 6 – Non‑Exempt

Westminster, MD (in‑person)

Work hours:

Evening (5:00‑9:30 PM), Monday‑Thursday, totaling up to 29 hours per week during each 10‑week session (four times per year).

This grant‑funded position provides registration and orientation support to the Adult Education ESOL program by assisting with the enrollment efforts of ESOL students, providing translation for orientation and classes, and checking in with instructors for support.

• Communicate with ESOL students in person or remotely to assist in enrolling in ESOL classes and/or new student orientations.
• Assist students with technical support needed to connect remotely to their online learning classes.
• Make and track reminder calls to student orientation classes.
• Provide customer service, file maintenance, and support to faculty, staff, and students.
• Communicate with Adult Education staff regarding ESOL students.
• Proctor on‑site standardized testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
• Written and conversational fluency in Spanish (or other language specified).
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (including MS Teams) and file maintenance experience.
• Ability to use small office equipment (copy machines, multi‑line telephone systems).
• Ability to use computers for data entry.
• Ability to troubleshoot technology platforms for students (e.g., MS Teams connectivity on smartphones, tablets, or computers).
• Ability to work a variable evening schedule totaling up to 29 hours per week.
• Must be positive, cooperative, and supportive.

• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• Experience working in a student enrollment environment.

The work is normally light, requiring up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently. It involves standing, walking, and use of computer equipment.

• Communicate with students and staff.
• Visual acuity and ability to perceive surroundings.
• Mental acuity to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter.
• Repetitive motion (e.g., keyboarding).
• Stand, sit, walk, and move between areas.

College campus with direct contact with students, staff, faculty, and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and shared spaces. Work involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of office, meeting, and training rooms.

• Successfully complete a criminal background check (for designated positions).
• Be able to work on campus as of the first day of employment.
• Residency restrictions apply: cannot be solely online instructors living outside Maryland; must work in Maryland the majority of the time. Employees must be a resident of DC, VA, WV, MD, or PA on the date employment commences. Must be willing to come to campus for identity verification within 3 business days of hire date.
• Be currently authorized to work in the US; no visa sponsorship.
• Complete an employment application upon request prior to progressing through the interview process.
