Elementary Education Teacher
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Salary:
Commensurate with certification/licensure and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers. Includes employee benefits package.

- Must hold or be eligible for a Maryland teaching certificate/license with the Elementary Education 1-6 endorsement.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing a Multi-Tiered Supports (MTSS) to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students through data-informed decision-making and targeted interventions.
- Proficient in applying tiered behavioral supports, including de-escalation techniques, restorative practices, and behavior intervention planning, in alignment with Wicomico County Public Schools (WCPS) policies and best practices.
- Establish a classroom atmosphere that is welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to the individual academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students.
- Foster a learning environment grounded in empathy, mutual respect, and emotional safety to support students in developing self-regulation and interpersonal skills.
- Provide direct, differentiated instruction within a small group setting, accommodating both single-grade and multi-grade configurations as needed.
- Track and document student academic performance, behavioral progress, and attendance through consistent grading, data collection, and record-keeping practices.
- Maintain regular communication with students homeschool teams to share academic and behavioral updates and to align support strategies.
- Assist in observing student behavior in the homeschool environment to identify target behaviors and support the development of individualized goals to be addressed within the alternative setting.
- Monitor and collect data on student performance, behavior, and engagement to inform instruction and intervention planning.
- Apply the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to provide proactive, tiered interventions that address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by school administration.
