Job DescriptionDESCRIPTION: Salisbury Christian School is accepting applications for a full-time Toddler Teacher at our Early Learning Center. We are seeking a nurturing, energetic, and creative educator who displays genuine care for young children and the ability to effectively manage a developmentally appropriate environment that promotes academic, social/emotional, and spiritual growth. Applicants should hold (or be willing to obtain) qualifications as an Infant/Toddler Teacher according to the Maryland Office of Child Care (bachelor's degree in early childhood education preferred) and be prepared to articulate an active faith in Jesus Christ.
JOB PURPOSE: A Lead Teacher in Salisbury Christian School's Early Learning Center is more than a caregiver — they are a disciple-maker who brings their faith into every dimension of classroom life. This role encompasses all aspects of planning, organizing, and implementing an effective instructional and child care program grounded in a Biblical worldview, supporting the educational, spiritual, social, and emotional development of children in the Infant, Toddler, or Pre Kindergarten-2 classrooms.
ELC Lead Teachers guide and encourage young learners at every stage of early development while nurturing their growth in Christ.
- Demonstrate knowledge of developmental characteristics of age group(s) taught.
- Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, Biblical integration, assessments, and resources.
- Provide care for children, such as setting schedules and routines, feeding, changing diapers, cleaning rooms and toys, et cetera.
- Develop and encourage age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, sharing, et cetera.
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents.
- Support children in learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed.
- Maintain documentation and records as required.
- Work cooperatively with parents to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals.
- Demonstrate ability to inspire learning and cultivate relationships with students.
- Assist with enlarging the vision and mission of Salisbury Christian School.
- Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling.
- Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ and assist them in making positive life choices.
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout all activities.
- Keep the Administration adequately informed of serious student issues.
- Recognize the need for good public relations and represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public.
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
- Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and Administration.
- Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations.
- Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
- Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
- Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
- Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities when possible.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Administration.
