Job Description

Salisbury Christian School is seeking staff members for the After School Program - Jag Club! SCS Jag Club runs daily from 3:15 - 5:30 pm for students in PreK through 5th Grade. Jag Club Staff Members are tasked with implementing activities for students, providing homework help, and supervising student safety. Successful individuals will be flexible, friendly, and should be prepared to articulate an active faith in Jesus Christ;

prior school or childcare experience preferred.

JOB PURPOSE:

The qualified individual is committed to fulfilling our mission within our community of students and families by providing assistance with the SCS Jag Club After‑School Programs for PreK through 5th Grade. Staff members assist with the development and implementation of after school and other student learning activities and experiences, including organizing and conducting crafts and other interest‑based activities, providing homework help, and monitoring the safety of students.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
  • Assist in planning and implementation of academic, enrichment, and recreational extra‑curricular learning experiences for students;
  • Assist students with homework;
  • Work effectively with students in after school activities and assist with behaviour management, acting as a positive role model;
  • Help mentor students in a variety of learning and life experiences;
  • Support environments that are safe, healthy, and conducive to student learning;
  • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities as required;
  • Assist with enlarging the vision and mission of Salisbury Christian School;
  • Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modelling;
  • Lead students to a realization of their self‑worth in Christ and assist them in making positive life choices;
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout all activities;
  • Keep the Administration adequately informed of serious student issues;
  • Recognise the need for good public relations and represent the school in a favourable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public;
  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration;
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and Administration;
  • Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations.
REQUIRED SPIRITUAL QUALITIES:
  • Have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior;
  • Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living;
  • Be in whole‑hearted agreement with Salisbury Christian School’s Foundational documents;
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others, including a commitment to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40);
  • Be a member in good standing at an evangelical church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the SCS Statement of Faith;
  • Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorisation, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ;
  • Have the Spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”
ESSENTIAL PERSONAL QUALITIES:
  • Recognise the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them in that task;
