Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an opening for a Transmission System Operator at our Hughesville location. The primary function of this role is to learn and participate in the safe and reliable operation of SMECO’s 230kV and 69kV transmission and substation systems in compliance with NERC, NESC, PJM, ISO and Maryland PSC codes and regulations.

Responsibilities and Attributes

Qualifications

Two‑year college degree or equivalent, with emphasis in math, statistics, or basic electricity. Specialized training in electric utility operation and maintenance is required, and some computer courses are preferred. A minimum of five years of progressive experience in the operation, construction and maintenance of electric utility systems is required. SCADA experience is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting salary range is $81,100 - $105,200. SMECO offers 401(k) with a 6% dollar‑for‑dollar match and an additional 3% non‑elective company contribution.
