ALL POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO DRUG TESTING AND BACKGROUND CHECKS.

Wicomico County Public Works is a multi-disciplined organization responsible for County infrastructure including roads, bridges, stormwater systems, solid waste facilities, and dredging operations. The Engineering Division provides technical support, plan review, and project management for Public Works and private development projects.

Duties:

  • Review subdivision and commercial development plans for compliance with County standards (roads, drainage, stormwater, sidewalks, lighting).
  • Coordinate with developers, consultants, contractors, County staff, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates for engineering and surveying projects.
  • Manage consultant and construction contracts, including bid assistance and payment review.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to stormwater, drainage, hydraulics, and roadway design.
  • Review construction documents and contractor submittals; provide limited field inspection.
  • Provide engineering support for Roads, Solid Waste, MS4, and stormwater programs.
  • Assist with emergency response activities and public meetings as needed.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field;

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and/or Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred;

Knowledge of civil engineering principles and public infrastructure systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Experience with stormwater management, hydraulics/hydrology, bridges, dams, or dredging.

Familiarity with GIS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, or similar software.

MDE Green Card Certification (Sediment Control).Ability to work effectively with developers, consultants, contractors, and the public.

Valid driver’s license; and Ability to successfully pass drug screening and background check.
