About this Position
We are seeking an adaptable and innovative tax senior manager to join our Investment Tax team.
You will join a team committed to operational excellence and a shared sense of purpose in serving the organization and our clients. You will be challenged to manage risk and optimize processes by engaging with a variety of internal teams and external partners and vendors.
You will manage and review tax provisions, distribution calculations, qualification requirements, shareholder tax reporting and tax compliance for mutual funds and ETFs. You will also apply taxation of financial products knowledge to fund holdings. We utilize an external tax service provider which will require your oversight. We have significant engagement with front office personnel, and you will respond to their inquiries.
You will use your technology skills to identify and automate tax operational tasks.
Works with senior management to ensure compliance with tax regulations. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of tax best practices and a specialized understanding of the end-to-end tax processes and has a conceptual understanding of which tools and systems are used in resolving associated issues. Advises and guides less experienced professionals and may direct their work.
Responsibilities- Ensures tax financial disclosure is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. In partnership with management, establishes the organization's tax strategy and is accountable for ensuring the implementation of that strategy while minimizing regulatory and audit risk.
- Performs the research, analysis, and interpretation of tax laws and cases to provide management with recommendations and opinions by applying tax concepts
- Works directly with inside and outside counsel to develop tax planning strategies and tax return filing positions. Uses strategic relationships to influence at all levels of the organization. Liaises with lines of businesses and vendors to ensure proper calculation and reporting of tax information. Oversees tax service provider.
- Responsible for providing guidance to junior team members to improve their performance.
- Bachelor's degree AND
- 8+ years of total relevant work experience
- Expertise in regulated investment company and financial product taxation
- Experience with technology tools including advanced Excel functions, Power BI, and Alteryx
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD or LLM
- CPA or licensed attorney
FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
Work FlexibilityThis role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.
