MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Systems Architect to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD.
The Systems Architect will lead the development of enterprise-wide IT infrastructure, integrating systems with a focus on security, performance, scalability, and availability. You will leverage your strong technical background and knowledge to support the strategic design, architecture, and implementation of complex systems, ensuring they align with business objectives and security best practices. This role focuses on creating scalable, reliable, and secure systems that can evolve with changing technological landscapes while mentoring engineering teams, performing risk assessments, and ensuring systems are designed to meet regulatory compliance standards.
Responsibilities- Leading architectural decisions, platform selections, and system integrations while developing detailed system blueprints that define interactions between hardware, software, network layers, and security protocols.
- Integrating cybersecurity best practices, security automation, and SIEM tools into all design decisions to protect systems against evolving threats and ensure compliance with industry standards like NIST.
- Leading infrastructure design efforts, automating cloud infrastructure provisioning, and implementing Dev Ops practices (CI/CD) to streamline deployment and optimize server performance.
- Creating and maintaining system architecture diagrams, compliance documentation, and operational guidelines for infrastructure teams to ensure consistency and support system audits.
- Leading cross-functional teams in executing complex, large-scale system migrations and providing clear stakeholder communication to senior management regarding architectural design and security risks.
- Mentoring and guiding junior architects and engineers, fostering continuous improvement in technical competencies, engineering practices, and security awareness.
- Traveling within the CONUS for up to 25% of the time as required to support mission objectives.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12+yrs experience OR High School and 16+ yrs experience OR Associates and 14+ yrs experience OR Master’s and 10+ yrs experience OR PhD and 8+ yrs experience
- 7+ yrs of experience in systems engineering, network design, and cybersecurity engineering.
- Significant experience designing enterprise-level infrastructures and implementing security architectures, including firewall configurations, VPNs, IAM, encryption, and endpoint protection.
- Advanced technical proficiency with cloud computing platforms, cloud architecture principles, Type 1 Hypervisors, Docker, and hybrid cloud strategies.
- Extensive experience with network topologies, automation and scripting tools, infrastructure as code, disaster recovery strategies, and public-key infrastructures.
- Expert knowledge of enterprise operating systems, Linux Server environments, and designing resilient storage solutions for distributed systems.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, manage large-scale projects, and communicate complex architectural concepts effectively to both technical and business leaders.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP certification) or equivalent industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CCSP, TOGAF, CCNP, Security+, or CISM.
- Experience with cloud-native security tools, cloud security frameworks, and microservices or serverless computing patterns.
- Experience navigating regulatory compliance standards and frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
- An active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required to start.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
