Builds and assembles electronic components utilizing appropriate machinery and tools to ensure quality and proficiency in the completed product. Utilizes various soldering techniques determined specifically by product criteria. Must adhere to the building requirements and specifications shown in the MOP (manufacturing operating procedures) and BOM (bill of materials) and work instructions. Conducts inspection of completed work and cleans finished products according to established procedures.
Must measure tolerances, use microscope for detailed work, troubleshoots and resolves problem areas. Records job specific data on forms, logs, time sheets and other required documentation. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, small hand tools (tweezers, cutters and screwdrivers), soldering irons, hot plates, microscope, calipers, cutting devices, cleaning machine and continuity testers.
Job Duties (not limited to)
- Performs any combination of following tasks to assemble electronic components, subassemblies, products, or systems:
Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed. - Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
- Crimps, stakes, screws, welds, solders, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
- Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points, using soldering, welding, thermocompression, or related bonding procedures and equipment.
- May assemble and attach hardware, such as caps, knobs, and switches, to assemblies.
- Performs intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, and curing parts and assemblies.
- Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
- Performs on-line go-not-go testing and inspection, using magnifying devices (such as microscopes) measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment, to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
- May perform assembly operations under microscope or other magnifying device.
High School Diploma or GED. Must have a minimum of 6 months or related experience or specialized training. Previous soldering experience or skills a must. J-STD or IPC certification required. Mathematical skills required with emphasis on the ability to compute rates, ratios and percentage. Ability to interpret bar graphs. Thorough knowledge of calibration, reading drawings, blueprints and schematics.
Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
