Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN)

A high-performing, community-focused healthcare organization in the coastal Maryland/Delaware region is seeking a Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) for a permanent, full-time opportunity. This role supports patients who require continuous monitoring and higher-acuity care than medical-surgical or telemetry units, but who do not meet ICU-level criteria.

The PCU RN delivers patient-centered care in a fast-paced, clinically complex environment while practicing in alignment with ANA Standards and the Nursing Process.

• Permanent, full-time role
• Progressive Care / Stepdown Unit
• Continuous cardiac and physiologic monitoring
• High-acuity patient population
• Team-based, collaborative care environment

• Day, evening, night, or rotating shifts per departmental policy
• Weekend coverage required based on unit needs
• Scheduled off at least three holidays per year
• Occasional overtime may be required

• Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute or potential acute care needs
• Continuously monitor and assess patient status and intervene as needed
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
• Act as a patient advocate and provide education to patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Utilize clinical equipment and technology competently
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of permanent residency
• American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
• ACLS required within 12 months of employment
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification obtained during orientation
